I began my training as a sports and manipulative therapist in 2000, originally qualifying as a personal trainer and sports therapist. In 2006 I qualified further as a manipulative therapist with the Northern Institute in Bury.
Within the clinic, I enjoy treating lower limb injuries particularly running related. I have an interest in the analysis of human movement especially of the foot, knee and hip, promoting efficient body mechanics for the prevention of injuries.
My view on injuries is everyone is different. You never see the exact same injury twice. People’s biomechanics are different, body shapes, strength, stability and I like to look at the whole picture, so as to ensure we work on prevention as well as cure.
I have worked at Body Limits since 2002 and it is like my second family. We have a great working environment and its always a fun place to be.
I have worked with a wide variety of people, mainly sports people and with a huge range of different sports including, football teams, dancers, runners, cyclists, triathletes, marshal arts, rugby players and ice skaters.
My area of interest lies within athletics and triathlons. As a teenager I was national level for pentathlon and county level for track and cross country which is where my interest for physiotherapy related work came from. I was plagued with injuries and needed several visits to physios and specialists and I wanted to learn how to do it!
I continue to run and have recently started competing in some short distance triathlons. I have 3 children and a dog and I fit work in around my family life.
I am also a qualified pilates instructor, which works fantastically alongside my treatments, because I can help with rehab particularly with back injuries as it focuses on core strength, stability and flexibility.
Highlights of my career so far include, treating Sean Beam (actor), Natalie Lowe (dancer), Liz Yelling (runner), working at Northampton Football Club and having the pleasure to work along side Mark Booth and the rest of the team at Body Limits.
